Hotel Zoso Launches a Sophisticated Supper Club

“Relatively Singing…An Evening of Cabaret and Sibling Revelry” kicked off the new ZLounge on February 13, 2010 in the heart of Palm Springs. A pair of entertaining sisters, Elizabeth Dreyfuss and Dela Zimmer sang their hearts out, in between anecdotes set to family photos, to the capacity crowd.
The evening realized a dream of Hotel Zoso general manager, Lesley Carey. When she arrived about 6 months ago, she noted, near the front entrance, a dark space. The light bulb went on. Lesley envisioned a supper club in the Palm Springs tradition.
Voila, the British-born Dela and Elizabeth did their numbers with panache. Dela, blessed from childhood with an amazing four-octave range, wowed the first nighters with opera arias. Elizabeth, who has a saucy, sultry style, vamped about the room warbling torchy standards. An able comedienne, she teased Dela throughout, but the elder sister proved a gracious foil.
With its rosy lighting and filmy draperies, the supper club definitely had valentine vibes. And it was a special moment when champagne was passed and Lesley toasted to the new venture.
