The Palm Springs Opera Guild will proudly present their 28^th Annual Vocal Competition Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 pm, Annenberg Center at the Eisenhower Medical Complex. This operatic competition provides a desert audience the opportunity to hear talented young singers at the beginning of their careers. The post competition benefit banquet will be a fundraiser for the PSOG. This exhilarating evening of cocktails, dinner and a private concert by the Vocal Competition winners is only $110.00 ($60.00 is tax-deductible as permitted by law) and will be just steps away from the Vocal Competition.

 

Out of the more than 120 applicants, 10 finalists' ages 18-30 will be chosen at a preliminary audition and then compete Sunday, December 4 for the $5,000 Grand Prize. Prizes will be awarded as follows: $3,000, second prize; $2,000 third prize; $1,500 fourth prize; $1,000 fifth prize and $500 for the runners up. The distinguished panel of judges includes: Valery Ryvkin, Conductor, Santa Barbara Opera & Greensboro Opera, Peter Somogyi, Director of Artistic Administration - Arizona Opera and Brent McMunn, Director Opera Programs at USC Music School.

 

Master of ceremonies for the Vocal Competition Finals will be Board President, Kenneth Morris and Executive Vice President, Bruce Johansen.
