Meeting Monsieur Pompadour - Mascot of Fashion Week El Paseo

It was the most elegant poolside party ever, and all because of a 7 foot 3 inch Pink Poodle. Once again, Karen and Tony Barone have created an artwork for Fashion Week El Paseo, and he’s a beauty.

The metal sculpture has a sparkly jello finish and an insouciant air. He will guard the entrance of a “big white fashion tent” in downtown Palm Desert throughout Fashion Week, coming up fast, March 21 through 28.

Once introductions were made, guests enjoyed some extraordinary vintages from the Cosentino Wineries Napa Valley. The Novelist, composed of 77% sauvignon blanc and 23% semillon, was the great favorite. Karen Barone’s table setting was an artform itself. When we saw the tiny pink baby carriage nutcups we wondered whether we should have brought a gift.

A guitarist strumming across the pool set the mood for a perfect pink party.
