The remarkable Genuine Draft Horse Ranch in the upcountry outside Palm Springs was the scene of a sprawling party on Oct. 22, 2011. It was also the birthday of the beautiful co-owner Galiena Jacobs. The hostess was the prettiest of the many “brides” attending. Apparently the costume code started out as wedding attire and then morphed to whatever.

It was a dark but starry and balmy night so you couldn’t see much of the many animals that live there – including a Lipizzaner team, a miniature horse and her companion, a miniature burro, a pig and a goat, etc. The ranch rents out the handsome beasts (some with carriages) for all sorts of events.

Many new attractions to the ranch/B &B are open now. Like the saloon with saddle-top bar stools and an adjacent powder room worthy of the finest Victorian bordello. Guests mingled happily, sometimes asking “What are you? Well, no question about the adorable “pregnant” bride. Just “married” in the ranch chapel, the words “I do” were inscribed on her derriere. Shouldn’t that be “I did”?
